I subscribe to many magazines and newspapers that I read in last-century printed format.  It isn’t so much because I prefer the look and feel of print; it’s just that I haven’t sprung for an iPad yet.

But a recent blog post from Stephen Few reminds me how much richer a reading / learning experience can be on a tablet by combining print media and video.

Consider an article about the preternatural relief pitcher Mariano Rivera that appeared in the June 29 issue of the New York Times.  It was a pretty compelling article, but had I read it on an iPad or similar device I would have been treated to both the article and this incredibly good educational video.

Sure, I could read the article on my computer screen, but I don’t like to do a lot of reading on a computer screen. But on a tablet, I would have both a good reading experience and enjoy the rich media content.
